Need a Tune Up?

need a tune upIt’s so easy to look at out job, our investments, our bank account, our credit score as what is bringing us closer to our financial goals and dreams but really these are only tools we use in that pursuit.

You may have a great job but depending on what you do with it depends on whether you will be promoted, fired or maintain the status-quo. The same goes true with any investments or savings.

Rob Reiner said  “Everybody talks bout wanting to change things and help and fix, but ultimately all you can do is fix yourself. And that’s a lot. Because if you can fix yourself, it has a ripple effect.”

Work on bettering yourself and you will maximize the potential of all the tools at your disposal.

What area of “you” needs a tune-up today?

No Job Too Small on the Way to Your Financial Dreams

no job too small “Never turn down a job because you think it’s too small. You don’t know where it can lead.”
~ Julia Morgan, architect ~

This quote is fairly self-explanatory at face value but I wanted to offer a different slant on it as well.

Often in our personal or business life we tend to overlook the small things which in the long run can prove to be very costly.

Things such as poor time management habits, loose spending, taking more time than allowed on breaks, cutting corners with customers

There is an endless list so it’s important to be honest with yourself and take on those “small jobs” in your own work environment.

What small job can you take on today in pursuit of your financial goals and dreams?

What’s the Plan Stan?

Today Iwhats the plan stan want to share 2 quotes with you I feel are important building blocks in achieving your financial dreams and goals.

“A goal without a plan is only a wish”

~ Larry Elder ~

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”

~ Anatole France ~

Many put a lot of faith in mentally creating our reality, while others focus largely on disciplining oneself to action and yet others feel believing in yourself gets the job done best.

Countless people work very hard but seem to get nowhere, while others have the best ideas but do nothing with them…

It is my personal belief all these components are important.

We were given a mind, emotions and a body so I think we should use all we have in our pursuits in life.

Use your mind to create and plan, use your emotions to dream and motivate and use your physical abilities to carry out what your mind and heart tell you to.

Work on finding the balance of developing all aspects of who you are and you will find a balance in success.

Credit Score Tip…Stay Put!

At least a few times a month I receive these special introductory rate offers from various credit card companies.

The incentives are at times enticing but unless there is a significant reason to switch your credit card company it is best to stay-put in most cases.credit score tip stay put

The same way employers look at employees who can’t stick with one job is the same way credit companies and credit bureaus look at stability with who you have credit.

If you are forever switching credit card companies just to get a lower interest rate for a few months than it will eventually negatively impact your credit score.

Drifting or Driving?

A friend of mine just made a great post on his blog and I asked him if I could borrow it.

Is it about whether you are drifting through life or if you are driving your life.

This may pertain to your whole life or just certain areas. His post was about being in control of your thoughts, feeling and emotions but it can just as easily apply to your finances, budget, saving and financial future.

Read the post below…

Drifting or Driving?

Drifting is the decision made by choosing not to decide or when you make a decision with notable consequences you aren’t taking responsibility for.

This morning I was reading a great article on the Happiness Project website about “Drifting” and I thought I’d share an excerpt of it and the link to the full article.

After you check out the article ask yourself if you are drifting in life or driving your life?

“We drift into certain decisions because other people approve of them. Your sense of what is right for you becomes clouded by what other people think is right. You drift into medical school because your parents will be pleased. You drift into marriage because all your friends are getting married. You drift into a job because someone offers you that job. You want the respect of the people around you, or you want to avoid a fight or a bout of insecurity, so you take the path of least resistance. That’s drift.”
